Rocky Books in Urdu and English Included as a Resource for Project Salaamati’s Kids

We are so excited to announce that Rocky Books titles in Urdu and English have been included as a resource for children in Project Salaamati’s library!

What is Project Salaamati?

As part of Teach For Pakistan Fellow Elizay Khan’s Safe Spaces initiative in her school in Islamabad, Project Salaamati encourages mental well-being and emotional safety for children within the school environment. Project Salaamati includes a Safe Spaces Corner, library, and workshops on themes such as bodily autonomy and consent and social-emotional learning skills.

The Rocky Books titles Elizay chose to share with her students are:

  1. How Rahul Keeps Calm When He Feels Anxious

  2. Tanu Learns How To Overcome Her Fears

  3. Ali Learns How To Ask For Help

These trauma support books for children tackle themes of domestic abuse, parental conflict, and anxiety through a relatable story told through the eyes of a child. Each book also contains a context-relevant grounding or calming exercise prescribed by a qualified family therapist, as well as short-term and long-term guidance for parents.

Rocky Books are also highly useful as teacher training tools, to help teachers recognise signs of abuse or a difficult home life in their students and offer them advice for how to support their students and their families in the best way possible.

We’re hoping Rocky Books resources empower Project Salaamati’s children to identify and name difficult emotions and situations, and teach them valuable grounding and calming tools for when they’re feeling anxious, overwhelmed or scared. We also want the children and their parents to know that they’re not alone - Rocky Books are always here to support them.
